Sarah's Key--Almost Finished!

A lot has happened to the main character, Julia, throughout the novel. The last 150 pages create even more tension and drama than what I had expected from reading the first half of the novel. First off, my prediction was right about Sarah Starzynski. She had lived in the same apartment that the Tazecs had moved into after she was taken during the Vel d'Hiv roundup. Towards the end of the novel, the story of Sarah ends and the entire book is about Julia's life (the newspaper writer who is living present day). Im hoping that Sarah's story comes back into play by the end. I guess the author is representing the isolation and disconnect from the world sarah had while hiding during the holocaust.

Although Sarah's story is one of the main parts of the plot, a lot more is happening to Julia. Her marriage is on the brink of a divorce, a baby is on the way (even though Julia is already in her late forties and her husband in his fifties)and she is dealing with you eleven year old daughter growing up. Im actually surprised that I am interested in this part of the book because most of these are adult issues, yet the plot still appeals to me and I am completely enthralled by what is happening in the novel. I'm looking forward to the ending; I'm hoping Julia can find some answers to what she is looking for (regarding her topic of research Sarah Starzynski, and her personal life).
